Privacy Policy
LandLens (the app at app.getlandlens.com and in the App Store and Google Play, the website getlandlens.com, the browser extension, and the Data API) is operated by Kendra Holdings LLC, 172 Lawrence Rd, Chicopee, MA 01013. This policy describes what we collect, why, who processes it, and the choices you have.
What we collect and why
- School email address (app accounts) — used to verify that you are a student at your college and to sign you in with a one-time code. We never post your email or name alongside your reviews, and we do not sell it.
- Content you post — reviews, ratings, tags, tenancy periods, optional rent, landlord names you report, and photos you upload are public content shown in the app and on the website. Individual rent figures are only ever shown as aggregates.
- Session data — a sign-in token stored on your device (the iOS Keychain or Android secure storage in the app; browser local storage on the web app) so you stay signed in. Tokens are stored hashed on our servers.
- Lease documents for verification (optional, app) — the lease photo you submit is used solely to confirm you lived at the address. It is never shown publicly, never shared, and is deleted after the verification decision.
- Move-in vault photos (optional, app) — visible only to you, never used in reviews or shown to anyone else, deleted with your account or on request.
- Saved properties (watchlist) — the addresses you save, so we can email you when a saved property gets a new review or public record. Unsave the property, or use the unsubscribe link in any alert, to stop.
- Purchases — for Full Reports, the 3-report bundle, Lease Review, Landlord Pro, and Data API keys we keep the email you gave at checkout, the property or plan bought, and the payment provider's transaction id. Card numbers are handled entirely by Apple, Google Play, or Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Lease Review uploads (web) — the lease PDF you upload, the state, the optional address, and your email. The PDF is stored privately so the review can be generated and reopened from your private link; it is never shown to other users, never used to train any model, and is deleted on request.
- Landlord claims and Landlord Pro — the business name, email, phone, and website a landlord submits to claim a listing are shown publicly as a contact card once approved. Replies posted under reviews are public.
- Launch notifications, ambassador applications, and Data API signups — the name, email, campus, and message you type into those forms, plus the time and network address of the submission as a record of your consent.
- Technical logs — our servers keep short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent, path, timestamp) for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. We do not build behavioral profiles from them.
- Browser extension — reads the street address of the listing you are viewing on supported rental sites and sends only that address to our API to look up records. It does not read anything else on the page, does not track browsing, and stores only your preferences locally.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or any biometric data. The app does not use Face ID or Touch ID; if your device asks for Face ID during an App Store purchase, that is Apple's own purchase confirmation and nothing biometric ever reaches us.
Public records
Property listings and records shown in the app (rental licenses, registrations, inspection outcomes, code violations, and court filings where available) come from municipal, county, and court open-data sources and are public information published by those governments, with sources cited in the app. Owner-of-record names come from the same public registries.
Automated (AI) processing
Lease Review sends the text of the lease you upload to a third-party large-language-model provider (Anthropic) under commercial API terms that do not permit the provider to train on your document. The result is an automated reading, not legal advice, and is labeled as such wherever it is shown. No other feature makes automated decisions about you; grades are a published formula over public records and reviews, and moderation decisions are made by people.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers, each bound by their own privacy and security terms and used only to run LandLens:
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, file storage, and network security.
- Resend — sending email (sign-in codes, receipts, reports, alerts).
- Stripe — web payments and subscriptions.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — in-app purchases.
- Anthropic — the AI model behind Lease Review.
- Google — Street View imagery of property addresses.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers. We disclose it only to these providers, when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
Cookies, tracking, and advertising
getlandlens.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising pixels, and does no cross-site tracking. Some pages embed images or badges served by third parties (the App Store and Google Play badges, a Product Hunt badge, and a Lemonade renters-insurance banner served by Lemonade's partner network). Loading those images sends your IP address and browser details to that third party under its own privacy policy, and the insurance banner may count impressions and clicks so Lemonade can pay a referral commission. We label affiliate links where they appear; they never affect grades, records, or reviews. We do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals because we do not track.
Email and marketing
Emails you request directly (sign-in codes, purchased reports, lease reviews, API keys) are transactional. Everything else — watchlist alerts, landlord digests, launch announcements, and any note from the founder — carries our postal address and an unsubscribe link that works with one click and is honored immediately (and in every case within 10 days). We only add you to an announcement list when you type your email into a form that says what you will receive.
Security
All traffic to and from LandLens is encrypted in transit with TLS. Our database and file storage are provided by Cloudflare and encrypted at rest (file storage uses AES-256). Sign-in codes and session tokens are stored only as SHA-256 hashes; the app keeps your session token in the operating system's secure keychain. Lease documents and vault photos are stored under private keys that are never served publicly and are only returned to the signed-in owner. Administrative access is restricted to the operator behind a secret token. No method of storage is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you by the email on your account.
Children
LandLens is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or buy anything, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, email hello@getlandlens.com and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Access and export — email us from your registered address and we will send what we hold about you.
- Correction — edit or delete your own reviews in the app at any time.
- Deletion — delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or at getlandlens.com/delete-account. This permanently removes your account, sessions, reviews, review photos, vault photos, and any lease documents. Lease Review uploads and purchase records are deleted on request, except the minimal transaction record we must keep for tax and refund purposes.
- Opt out of email — the unsubscribe link in any non-transactional message.
- State privacy rights — residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other states with privacy laws may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of; the other rights are available by emailing us, and we will not discriminate against you for using them. You may use an authorized agent; we will verify the request with your registered email.
We keep account data for as long as your account exists, launch-list and application data for up to two years, server logs for up to 30 days, and purchase records for as long as tax law requires.
